In the summer of 2018, I made the choice to become vegetarian, and in January of 2019, I decided to only eat cruelty-free food. With this being said, it was hard for me to find places where I could eat, considering this way of life is relatively new to the Cincinnati area.
Day by day, the vegan lifestyle in Cincinnati is growing. Here are three awesome restaurants newbies need to check out!
1. Loving Hut
Whether you are animal cruelty-free or not, the Loving Hut is definitely one of the top vegan restaurants in Cincinnati. Located 6227 Montgomery Road, the Loving Hut has one of the most friendly and inviting atmospheres I have ever experienced. The staff members remember every single face that walks through the door and treats them like family. They make a variety of meals ranging from sloppy joes to udon noodles. If you are in the mood for some dessert, get yourself a cheesecake, carrot cake, or yummy cookies! I highly recommend the carrot cake. Oh, wait! And if your dog is hungry, they make some delicious dog treats, so your puppy can eat healthy, too. The Loving Hut is inexpensive, and each meal is made fresh just for you!
2. Sitwell’s Act II
Not only did I have one of the best vegan meals of my life here, Sitwell’s Act II is hands down one of the cutest restaurants I’ve ever seen. Although it may be a little bit more expensive than most, all of the food is worth every penny. It is located on 324 Ludlow Avenue, right next to the Esquire. The waiting staff is very personable and easy to talk to, and they are willing to be patient and answer any questions you have about the restaurant or menu. If you decide to go to this restaurant, I highly recommend The Garden, which is roasted eggplant, squash, zucchini, and roasted tomato pesto on ciabatta bread. Fun fact, they have recyclable and biodegradable cups and straws. So, not only are they saving animals lives, they are saving the Earth’s life!
3. Condado Tacos
Located in downtown Cincinnati on 195 E Freedom Way, Condado Tacos has some of the best tasting vegan tacos I’ve ever had. Although this restaurant isn’t completely cruelty-free, you can pick from multiple options to make your tacos vegan. Not to mention, their margaritas are to die for. This place is inexpensive, and the service is very helpful, and they make very good suggestions. The main thing this restaurant has is tacos, hence the name, so if you are REALLY craving them, give this restaurant a try!
