Since the last update, two top prospects have been called up.

Andrew Abbott, LHP out of Virginia, made his MLB debut as the starter in the last game of the Milawukee series. Abbott, a former 2nd round pick by the Reds in the 2021 MLB Draft, pitched a gem in his debut: 6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 6 K. Add his arm into the mix of a rotation of Hunter Greene, Ben Lively, Nick Lodolo (IL), Graham Ashcraft… the Reds might have something cooking.

But of course, this news is overshadowed with the Reds announcing that MLB’s #4 prospect and Reds #1 prospect – Elly de la Cruz – made the MLB roster in a move that sent Nick Senzel to the IL. There’s so much to unpack here with Cruz. So much. Too much. The news dropped on Tuesday, June 6th – he’s expected to make his debut against the Dodgers.

We’ll see where he plays – maybe he slides over to third, maybe India moves to third, McLain to second… and Elly plays short. Who knows where he’ll bat in the lineup against the Dodgers. Just… get ready Cincinnati. He’s what you’d call a generational talent… and he’s finally here. Welcome to the show, Elly de la Cruz. Let’s have some fun.
