Is it time for the Reds to panic? Not yet, but we might almost be there.

The Reds fall to third in the NL Central after winning just 1 of their last 9 games. The Cubs and Brewers have been playing close to .500 ball, meaning the Reds need to do better than that to regain first in the division.

The Reds have a must win series in Pittsburgh starting on Friday, with ace Andrew Abbott taking the mound for Game 1 of the series. Then they’ll their face in-state rivals – Cleveland – for two games at home.

Their recent run of form has been… concerning. They haven’t had problems scoring runs. 38 runs over their last 9 games, averaging just over 4 a game. But with Reds pitching giving up an absurd 70 runs over that same 9 game stretch, it’s no surprise they’ve struggled to get winning results. The only game the Reds allowed less than 3 runs in a game during the past 3 series, they won. Both starting and relief pitching has just been abysmal, and with the trade deadline past and the Reds making no significant additions to help (Moll LHP), the Reds’ only real hope will be the return of Hunter Greene and Nick Lodolo.
