This month in Media Fascinations, the theme is fandoms! Let’s get into it!
Starting off with a medial rundown, thankfully, these past few weeks the media has ended their un-needed and unwanted breaks. The government reopened, the development team of Black-ops 4 (Treyarch) finally gave their zombie community a break by ending their absence in communication and content for the game’s mode, and Netflix broke loose with one of their original titles and released the much anticipated fifth season of Grace and Frankie. While these pieces of multi-media content do have their own respected following, going along with this month’s theme of fandoms, I have to give my top fascinations of this month’s media to three others. Let’s get into it, starting with the newest addition to the Kingdom Hearts franchise!
Many long-time gamers and Disney fans alike have been freaking out at the release of the third iteration and much anticipated Kingdom Hearts Three. After waiting thirteen years for a main title release in the franchise, fans of the iconic series combination of Disney mixed with Final Fantasy were treated with thirteen (new/old) explorable worlds and to a somewhat conclusion with the much anticipated second keyblade war following our main beloved cast of Sora, Donald, Goofy, and many more familiar faces *wink wink* in their battle against the looming threat of the darkness, nobodies, and heartless.
Speaking of heartless, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has finally been concluded. Longtime fans of Tina Fey and her legacy were left on a cliff hanger in May of 2018 with the final season of her biggest television break-out hit since 30Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, being split in half. While it may be sad that this beloved show is at its end, the good news is that the final half of its final season finally released and, even better, the Netflix original is soon to be turned into a film and have a full cinematic release.
While some series like this and Game of Thrones may be coming to a close, what’s been closing in the real world are schools. Winter is here with a massive freezing wave hitting the midwest and Canada causing many students to cheer over school closures and non-believers of global warming to shiver with a bad case of “I told you so” from the fans who acknowledge its factual scientific existence.
Anyways, join us next month for a new theme and for more things captivating multi-media on Media Fascinations!
