With a dynamic and genre-crossing crowd, Lil Wayne and blink-182 both needed to fight for attention during their sets. The two acts succeeded in winning fans outside of their traditional listenership, which led to a one-of-a-kind concert experience.

After a 20-minute DJ set to warm up the crowd, Lil Wayne took the stage to his classic hit “6 Foot 7 Foot”. Without missing a beat, Lil Wayne was engaged, energetic, and put Riverbend into a “feel good, party hard” atmosphere. Overall, while predictable, Lil Wayne delivered a solid performance.

With a shift in attitude, blink-182 kicked off their set hard with “Dumpweed.”  Travis Barker stole the show with his massive, yet light, drumming, carrying the energy from Lil Wayne’s performance.

While original guitarist and singer Tom DeLonge is still on hiatus from Blink-182, Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio) has been filling his shoes for the last few years. While Skiba has an entirely different sound that DeLonge, he still performs old-time favorites like “Dammit” and “All the Small Things” to their fullest.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their album “Enema Of The State,” blink-182 played the entire album all the way through. After the set, blink-182 took a quick break and returned with fan-favorites like “I Miss You” and “First Date” to close out the night.

While a blink-182 and Lil Wayne combination appeared odd, it exceeded expectations and led to a vibrant show. Both performances flowed organically, and Neck Deep opening the show also helped to set a cadence for the rest of the night.
