Saturday, September 16th marks the 127th meeting between Cincinnati and Miami of Ohio’s battle for the coveted Victory Bell Trophy.

Beginning back in 1888, the Battle for the Victory Bell is tied for the 12th oldest rivalry in College Football, dating before rivalries such as The Backyard Brawl between Pitt and West Virginia, The Game between Ohio State and Michigan, and even the Army-Navy Game. The Bearcats have won the past 16 matchups, with a gap in the rivalry coming in 2020 due to COVID-19. The last win for The Redhawks came back in 2005 when they took home the bell by a final score of 16-44. The last meeting between the two teams in 2022 at Paycor Stadium resulted in a 38-17 win for Cincinnati.

Both teams come into week 3 with a win. Cincinnati returns from Pittsburgh off of a 27-21 victory over the Panthers, and The Redhawks defeated UMass 41-28 last Saturday, with Quarterback Brett Gabbert throwing for 302 yards and 4 touchdowns. Wide receiver Gage Larvadain caught three of the four touchdown passes on the evening, accumulating 273 total receiving yards as well.

The Bearcats welcome the Redhawks to Nippert Stadium on Saturday, September 16th at 7:00pm. Per Nipp at Night tradition, the fans have been asked to wear black in the 13th home sellout in a row. The game will be available on the Big 12 Now on ESPN+, Cincinnati’s 102.7 WEBN, and Bearcast Sports Radio.
