The Bearcats spent their spring break the same way many UC students did by traveling down south. The Bearcats got started on the last day before spring break in Spartanburg South Carolina for a three-game series against Wofford. The Bearcats would drop the first two games of the series, first by a final score of 3-12 then again on Saturday 2-5. Game three was initially pushed back to 4:00 to try to get a game in around the weather but the delay wasn’t enough. Game three would end up being canceled.
From there, the Bearcats drove an hour up the road to Rock Hill to take on the Winthrop Eagles for a two-game series starting last Tuesday. The Bearcats won game one 3-1. Landyn Vidourek started things for the Bearcats by scoring on a wild pitch in the first inning. Kerrington Cross would tack on an RBI single in the sixth inning. Ryan Nicholson would round things out in the eighth inning with a double that scored Kameron Guidry. The Eagles’ only run on the day would come in the 7th inning when Nate Chronis scored off a wild pitch. Game two in that series wouldn’t go as well for the Bearcats, losing by a final score of 3-13 and splitting the two-game series with Winthrop.
The Bearcats would then head back to Spartanburg for a game on Thursday against USC Upstate. The Bearcats would go on to lose that game by a final score of 1-6.
Wrapping up their spring break, the Bearcats would play two games against Princeton. The Bearcats would drop both of those games, first by a final score of 5-7, then again on Saturday 2-3. Coming out of spring break the Bearcats have fallen to an 8-12 record on the season with a four-game losing streak. The Bearcats added a home game against Marshall, that game is scheduled for this Tuesday. Marshall has a 9-8 record heading into the matchup, first pitch is scheduled for 5:00. The Bearcats lead the Thundering Herd 26-16 in the all-time series and are hoping to get back in the win column this week. Garrett Harker will get the start for the ‘Cats. After Tuesday’s game, the Bearcats will take on the Xavier Musketeers for the first time this season at Hayden Field. The first pitch is scheduled for Wednesday at 3:00, coverage will be available on FloSports.
