On an unseasonably cold and rainy September night at Paul Brown Stadium, the University of Cincinnati Bearcats tenacious and much-improved defense combined with some timely offensive scoring earned them their 13th straight win in the Battle for the Victory Bell against the Miami (OH) University Redhawks.

After leading just 7-0 through the first three quarters, the Bearcats took advantage of an interception by sophomore safety Darrick Forest and cashed it in on the second of sophomore running back Michael Warren II’s two touchdowns on the night.

Freshman quarterback Desmond Ridder earned the start and iced the game with his first collegiate touchdown pass to junior tight end Josiah Deguara to stop the scoring at 21-0.

Ridder also ran for a team-high 100 yards in the win,

Cincinnati will be back in action next Saturday night at 7 p.m. in their Nippert Stadium opener against Alabama A&M.
