Bearcats Baseball is back in Clifton! After dropping a three-game series last weekend to #6 Florida, the Bearcats are back in action Wednesday for their home opener against the Miami RedHawks. The RedHawks head into Wednesday’s matchup still looking for their first win of the season. Miami is 0-7 on the young season, losing in three-game series to Georgia Tech and North Alabama and a single loss to the Indiana Hoosiers. The Miami pitching staff has a combined 12.00 ERA and a combined .315 batting average against. So, look for the Bearcats’ Ryan Nicholson and Kerrington Cross to try and get the Bearcats on the board early and often. However, don’t expect this Miami team to be a bunch of pushovers. On offense, the RedHawks are led by Ryland Zaborowski and Parker Lester. Lester has a .375 batting average with nine hits on the season including three doubles. Zaborowski is also having a good start to his 2023 season with a .321 batting average and eight hits including two doubles and three home runs. This Miami RedHawks team is desperate to get in the win column and looking to play spoiler against the Bearcats on their home opener.
On the other side, Freshman Chase Horst (0-1) will toe the slab for the Bearcats. Chase is looking to bounce back from a disappointing outing last Saturday against the Florida Gators.
First pitch for Wednesday’s showdown is scheduled for 5:00pm at UC Baseball Stadium. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for Youth and free for students. Be sure to get there early because the first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free NatiBoyz koozie.
