There certainly wasn’t a hangover on Tuesday night for the Bearcats after winning the Emerald Coast Classic over the weekend as the Bearcats defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 105-49.

This was the first time the Bearcats eclipsed the 100-point mark since Nov.13th, 2017 when they beat Western Carolina 102-51.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 33-8 lead in the first half and never looked back.

The Golden Lions had 31 turnovers, leading to 45 points for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats held UAPB to 32 percent shooting from the field.

UAPB’s Martaveous Mcknight, who came in averaging 28 points per game, shot 2-11 from the field and scored just seven points.

UC shot 64 percent from the field and 57 percent from three-point range.

Junior guard Justin Jenifer led UC in scoring with 13 points.

Six Bearcats scored in double figures, and 12 players made at least two field goals.

Coming in, the Bearcats only had two guys averaging more than 10 points per game.

Freshman Logan Johnson scored eight points off the bench and also added four steals.

Coach Mick Cronin gave Johnson high praise after the game.

“Logan is a superior athlete… I don’t have to sell Logan Johnson on the importance of defense.  He’s going to be a great player with time when he gets more comfortable on the offensive end.”

Junior Tre Scott also had good things to say about Logan Johnson.

“He’s a special talent,” Scott said. “It’s nice having a young player knowing that he’s confident in himself.  He’s not coming in timid.”

The Bearcats improve to 6-1. UAPB falls to 2-5.

UC will play their first road game of the season on Saturday against University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) at the Thomas & Mack Center at 6 p.m..
