Match of the Week: Arsenal v Leicester City

This week the most entertaining game came down to a couple of 90+ goals. Arsenal was able to take a 2-0 lead through the first half before Leicester’s, James Justin, put two in the back of the net to even it. The game would stay even until an own goal in the 94th minute gave Arsenal the lead back, they would go on to add another in the 99th to claim a 4-2 victory. A major sting for Leicester to lose what could be a crucial point in the relegation battle.

Player of the Week: Cole Palmer

The British national continued his hot start to the 2024 campaign with an incredible performance vs Brighton. Scoring four goals including a beautiful free kick. Perhaps, what was more impressive, was his ability to create in the second half. Palmer was getting Messi shouts from Chelsea fans and while that may be a bit of an overreaction his playmaking was other worldly. Unfortunately, he was not able to create an assist due to some poor finishing up front, but it was enough for Chelsea to claim a dominant 4-2 victory and move to fourth in the table.

Title Race Update: Liverpool into 1st

For the first time this season Manchester City have been knocked off the top of the table thanks to a draw against Newcastle and Liverpool’s fourth straight victory. It is incredibly early in the season to make any judgements but losing Rodri will have a significant impact on City’s quest for a four peat. As for now the top of table shows Liverpool, City, Arsenal, and Chelsea and we can assume the race will come down to some combination of those teams.

Relegation Update: Are Wolves in trouble?

To everyone’s surprise Wolves find themselves at the bottom of the table on just 1 point. Wolves have had the toughest schedule in the Prem facing Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Villa, and Liverpool to open the season. This has left them even with Southampton at the bottom of the table. However, with four other winless teams it is not time to panic, yet. They still have plenty of time to make up ground against weaker opponents. On the other hand, Ipswich have been impressive to start the year managing four draws in six games. They will need to pick up some wins soon if they want to stay out of the bottom three but nevertheless an impressive start from the recently promoted side.

Week 7 Preview: Can Manchester United bounce back?

As we look ahead to week 7 the biggest matchup takes place between Aston villa and Manchester United. Villa is coming off a disappointing draw with Ipswich Town and are looking to bounce back. Similarly United are looking to rebound after a 3-0 thrashing at home by Spurs. This is a big opportunity for Erik ten Hag to get a result and gain back the support of a fan base that has not been happy with the results to start the year.
