Going into her ninth album cycle, Carrie Underwood just recently dropped her latest single, “Ghost Story”. Lyrically, it’s a spiteful breakup song where the girl in the song will serve as her ex-partner’s ghost story, haunting them as they lost something they won’t ever be able to get back again.

For fans of Carrie, this song is highly reminiscent of her latest album, Cry Pretty, which was released in 2018. It’s not a personal song, but it’s a story and Carrie’s simply the vessel in which the story is being told. It’s a beautifully orchestrated song that is very much in the same vein as songs like “Backsliding” where the main drive behind the
song on a rhythmic level is a complimentary guitar piece to a simple drum beat. It adds a certain level of maturity that Underwood (and her co-producer, David Garcia) have skillfully brought to modern-day country radio.

Give it a listen, as I’m expecting to see a tour announcement and album release date
sometime soon, and for those in the Ohio area, Carrie will be headlining the first night of
Country Concert in Fort Loramie, Ohio this summer on Thursday, July 7th!
