The Corpse of Anna Fritz is a Spanish thriller that is weird, off putting, fun, suspenseful and smart. Mega celebrity Anna Fritz has died under suspicious circumstances and her body rests at an undisclosed morgue. In the opening shot of the movie we see a hand holding a phone, taking a picture of her dead body. The morgue worker sends the picture to his 2 friends and soon they find themselves staring at Anna Frotz’s cold, newly dead body. The men have their way with her body but in the middle of their despicable acts, Anna Fritz wakes up. The concept is disgusting at first, but The Corpse of Anna Fritz deals with the consequences of the men’s actions in surprising, interesting ways. The film is sharply written and the actors did a great job filling the layered characters they’re given. The brooding score also maintains the dark tone throughout. I’ve never felt more at the edge of my seat than this film. It’s truly one of the suspenseful movies I’ve ever seen. If you enjoy a good thrill, this is the movie for you.
