GALLERY: Black Marble

By Sydney Sebastian · On November 15, 2019

Black Marble, the project created by multi-instrumentalist Chris Stewart, performed at Columbus’ Ace of Cups on November 12.

This humble performance reflected the chill, darkwave music that this project is known for. Touring in support of their 2019 release, Bigger Than Life, the album is heavily influenced by early-80’s synth-pop, with the driving baselines resembling those of New Order. Their newest album proves to be the lighter of their three LP’s, breaking away from gloomy layering echos and accepting lighter takes on the subject of his work.

For fans of John Maus, DIIV, New Order, and other synth-based, hypnogogic musicians, Black Marble will satisfy your ears with their dark chill-wave sounds.
